NECOC is responsible for the effective coordination and networking of various emergency response institutions of government including the fire brigade, Police Rapid Response Units, UPDF Emergency Support Units, Uganda Redcross Society, hospitals emergency units and the private emergency firms. By coordinating together with humanitarian organizations, development agencies, and the Governement of Uganda, NECOC centralizes disaster management and coordination. With focused attention to the below, NECOC coordinates among actors to benefit the people of Uganda:

Develop and conduct disaster simulation exercises for enhanced preparedness.
- Train and equip at least 20% of UPDF soldiers in every battalion and 20% of Police Officers in every district on rescue and emergency operations skills.
- Equip and facilitate District Emergency Coordination and Operations Centres (DECOC).
- Stock pile at strategic locations essential emergency response equipment and logistics.
We provide all districts in the country with Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Maps for early warning responses.
